13" Brakes for Starion and Conquest
| This is a custom setup that I
built. It has so far logged approximately 4K miles of street use
and 4 days of road racing. There is still some final tweaking to
be done as the current setup is over sensitive and can easily lock the
tires at speeds over 100mph if not properly modulated. Forget the
panic stop!
I believe that a brake system should be capable of several things: First and foremost it needs to be able to stop the car but in the way it does this is the true measurement of a high performance braking system. The brakes need to be there when you need them (that's all the time) both hot and cold, from normal, driving to aggressive with out a change in efficiency or lack thereof . The brakes must be easy to modulate (keep at the edge of lockup) for maximum stopping power. Let me make a small note in case you didn't know. The ability of your car to stop is limited by your TIRES ability to grip! It is an often overlooked fact, many people judge a car or trucks ability to stop without ever using an equal test. The 60-0 test only shows how well the tires work. If you want impressive stops buy good tires! More later 2-27-03 |
